Pic of the day

I’ve been watching vision come in from the earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand, and was stunned to see the state of the cathedral. Here’s a pic I took of it a few years ago, featuring two things that no longer survive – the cathedral’s steeple and the statue of Canterbury founder John Robert Godley, which were both toppled in the 6.3 magnitude quake. My thoughts go out to everyone in the region. It’s a beautiful little town, and deserves better treatment from Mother Nature than it’s been receiving of late.
